TCN Announces Scheduled Maintenance and Power Interruption for Parts of Abuja

Residents and businesses across major districts in Abuja are set to experience temporary electricity interruptions as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out scheduled maintenance work at the 132kV Apo Transmission Substation.

According to an official notice released by the agency, the maintenance window is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, 2026, running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The operation involves the stringing and latching of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) along the two 132kV Katampe–Apo Transmission Lines (Lines 1 and 2) between towers T130 and T132.

The temporary shutdown will restrict the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from off-taking power for distribution during the exercise. Consequently, areas including Lugbe, Garki, Area 1, the National Hospital vicinity, Guzape, Asokoro, and surrounding neighborhoods will experience temporary service disconnections.

TCN has assured consumers that normal electricity supply will be restored immediately upon the completion of the engineering works, advising residents in the affected zones to make necessary adjustments during the maintenance window.
