Bilateral energy diplomacy between Abuja and New Delhi entered an expansion phase as India signaled heightened demand for Nigerian crude oil imports. The diplomatic push follows direct high-level negotiations between Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Per a statement released by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, discussions spanned expanded cooperation across oil and gas, renewable energy, power, defence, technology, healthcare, and capacity development.
