I'm Bigger Than All of Them": Pete Edochie Dismisses Peer Comparisons in New Interview

Veteran Nollywood icon Pete Edochie has once again captured public attention following frank remarks regarding his standing in the Nigerian film industry. Speaking in a newly released episode of comedian Isbae U's online interview show, Curiosity Made Me Ask, the veteran actor asserted that he stands above his peers.

When asked to name his favourite actor in the industry, Edochie firmly declined, explaining that his decades-long career places him in a unique category.

"I don't have a favourite actor because I am bigger than all of them," Edochie stated.

The legendary actor also addressed recurring public discussions regarding seniority and industry timelines. While some colleagues have previously claimed to have started acting before him, Edochie maintained that he pays little attention to such assertions.

"People have been writing that they are older than me in the industry, but I don't respond," he noted. When pressed further about actors who consider themselves his equal, Edochie challenged anyone holding that view to come forward publicly.

Edochie, widely celebrated as one of the founding pillars of modern Nollywood, has enjoyed an illustrious career spanning decades, most notably immortalized by his breakout role as Okonkwo in the 1987 television adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.
