Property owners and real estate investors in Anambra State have been placed on a strict timeline following an official directive from the state government mandating the complete recertification of land titles. The Ministry of Lands has set a final deadline of December 31, 2026, for all legacy land documents to be updated to modern digital standards.
According to state housing authorities, the initiative is designed to eliminate land title disputes, integrate property records into a unified geographic information system (GIS), and significantly enhance property valuation accuracy across commercial and residential zones. The streamlined recertification process aims to provide investors with bankable, secure titles that can easily be leveraged for mortgage financing and commercial credit facilities.
The state government warned that properties failing to meet the December deadline risk forfeiture or heavy administrative penalties, as the administration moves to clean up land administration and boost investor confidence in urban centers like Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi. Real estate stakeholders have been advised to utilize designated digital portals to process their documentation before the expiration date.
